For the past few years Heimplanet has played a pretty important role with the team here at Hyperfocus. Heimplanet is an outdoor brand with an incredible catalouge of innovation on the roster. From ground breaking tents to award winning bags and beyond.

For the past couple of months we have been worked in collaboration with Corebook, an online living style guide website builder to develop their new platform. The Living Style guide we have created is a new vision for the brand as they enter their 16th years. We have worked hard to evolve their mission, vision, TOV and design language.

The aim is to set the new standards for the design team and create a central point of truth that the entire team can access, collaborate and have a shared understanding of the company vision moving forward.

Recently we got the chance to show case all the hard work from the past few months at the head office, Haffen city Hamburg. The whole crew were there and we had quite the evening presenting the work. 

We are excited to share the share the new portal with you very soon. Until then here are a few highlights from the our trip to see the team.

Who is Paul?

Hey, I am indeed Paul, one of the co-founders of Hyperfocus. Design lover who spends way too much on sneakers. Born and raised in the north of England I now and have for the past 10+ years lived in Hamburg Germany.

What are you doing here and tell us who you really are?

I am running the digital design part of the business, Let's say I am the other complementary part that makes us a digital brand design studio.

I started out many moons ago as a budding artist turned graphic designer. I found design whilst studying fine art drawing and photography at university. I fell in love with graphic design and was heavily inspired by design studios like the Designers Republic and the Attik back then. For me they were blurring the boundaries between art and design, it was an exciting time. 

Ten years ago I made the transition to working in the digital space, still keeping a hand in the design world. The essence of storytelling through digital experiences captivated me and I was hooked. I built my career around creating beautiful brands that translate into lovable digital platforms.

How did you come to work with Hyperfocus?

As one of the co-founders, I suppose I was there from the start. We had this idea to create a modern day studio that merged the best of brand and digital design into a place that celebrated design excellence.

What's your style? 

I would say clean, simple, bold.

What's your favourite project you have been involved in?

I was lucky enough to be part of an amazing team that developed the branding for FUNK. This is one of Germanys coolest content creator channels. They produce their own content and help to elevate up and coming talents. It is funded by ARD & ZDF, the German equivalent to the BBC in the UK. 

You working on anything big in the background?

Build this business 🙂 and growing my family.

What made you fall in love with design?

I feel in love with drawing first as a kid, this led me on to being curious about anything visual. Skateboarding introduced me to the idea of what branding could be. The heroes of my days such as the mighty David Carson and Stanley Donwood really solidified that design was for me. 

Do you have any design heroes?

Heroes yes although today they come in the form of design studios. Studios such as Kurppa Hosk, Collins and Accept & Proceed. These guys help me get out of bed everyday.

Inspire a new generation of designers in one word?

Stay humble (two words I know!)

As a dreamer I would turn the pages of Creative Review and read articles about new upcoming studios. The creme dela creme of the design community, carefully crafted and curated pictures illustrated an office packed with books, plants and white walls. This I believed was where my design dreams would come true. One day I two would drink coffee and chit chat at the designer breakfast bar about the latest design trends.

Well my career didn't really deliver in that part. For years I bounced around agencies and design studios whose only environmental spend was on the water machine. As my career blossomed and my network and friendships grew, I still clung to those old aspirations of that office I saw in a magazine all those years ago. Fast forward to today and things are a little bit different. I am now the proud co-founder of our very own design studio and what comes along with that is indeed an office.

So in that once held vision I was keen to make sure that what we created was gonna envision that. Over the past two years building the studio we have had two spaces. One was a shared space of epic proportions with Silicon Pauli and Shift, two premium Hamburg based design studios. The second and where we reside today is a smaller yet equally beautiful space. 

We have made it our mission and vision to create a space that breeds, fun and lighter with a little bit of culture thrown in to measure. Our future thoughts for our beloved space is to create an environment that celebrities the people that work with us. A little home from home that can be called your creative sanctuary. We keep trying and moving forward with it, its as much apart of who we are what we stand for as the work we produce. 

Who knows where the future will take us as a studio but for right now we call the Hyperfocus HQ a space where culture can be created from within… oh and where those plants I once envisioned actually are a reality (lets we remember to water those bad boys 🙂
