Who is Alex?
Hey, I’m Alex, a Senior Graphic Designer originally from Derby, England living in Hamburg. I previously lived and worked in London for 8 years, but after a break and time to travel, it all changed.
What are you doing here and tell us who you really are?
I moved to Hamburg for what seems to be the most common reason expats do, love. I’m someone who tries not to take life too seriously, who questions most things, and who’d much rather chat than write, especially when it’s about myself
How did you come to work with Hyperfocus?
I realised Hyperfocus was in Hamburg after I moved here, I took a chance, reached out, had a bit of luck and had some great conversations.
What’s your style?
Concept driven and bold.
Working on anything big in the background?
I love working with my hands, and lately I’ve been experimenting with making jewelry, mostly rings. I’m also learning German, which I wouldn’t recommend.
Do you have any design heroes?
Generally, my heroes in the creative space are people who have humour, take risks and have the ability to apply their creativity across disciplines. Of course I appreciate the design legends like Eike König, Paula Scher and Sagmeister. But I also love seeing new work from people like Max Siedentopf, Hudson-Powell and Mr Bingo always makes me laugh.
Inspire in one word?
Experiment
